Justin Bennett

Justin Bennett’s work is pluralistic, using sound, drawings, video, photography and performance to create single works or complex installations. Recently his work has focussed on urban development, technological progress and the relationship between architecture and sound. These concepts are developed in, and translated between, different media – resulting in sound sculptures, drawn animation, CDs, multi-channel sound pieces or audio walks in public space.
Bennett often works in collaboration with other artists, notably with the performance group BMB con. Recent collaborative projects include the soundtrack for “Klunen”, a dance piece by Eva-Cecilie Richardsen (2009), sound design for the film “The Good Life” by Ronny Heiremans and Katleen Vermeir (2009), and an audio walk for Istanbul with Renate Zentschnig (in production 2010).
Since 2008 Bennett runs workshops at the Institute for Sonology in The Hague on Phonography and Sound art. For Musarc, Justin was one of the three tutors on Field Studies.
